Your retirement corpus (or retirement nest egg) is the total amount of savings and investments required to fund your lifestyle after you stop earning active income. It is the same concept as your FIRE number for those pursuing early retirement.

The corpus is typically calculated using the 4% rule or another safe withdrawal rate: your annual expenses × 25 (for 4%) or × 28–33 for more conservative rates. The corpus must be inflation-adjusted over your retirement horizon.

In India, common vehicles to build corpus include NPS, PPF, EPF, mutual funds, and index funds. Use our Retirement Corpus Calculator to estimate your target.
